Shopping and sight seeing:
Wrexham - An interesting market town complete with new Eagles Meadow shopping centre. The Church steeple is one of Wales's Wonders and has connections with Yale in the USA
Chester - Don't miss the famous clock and the Rows in the City Centre
Llangollen - A pretty riverside town most famous for its annual International Eisteddfod but well worth visiting for the riverside walks and horse drawn canal boat rides. Don't miss a drive over the Horseshoe Pass and a cop of tea at the Ponderosa Cafe at the top.
Oswestry - Just over the border into Shropshire, this is a pleasant little town with markets on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Shrewsbury - A little further into Shropshire but well worth a visit, especially when the Annual Flower Show is on in August
Horseracing:
Both Chester and Bangor-on-Dee have regular race meetings
Snowdonia National Park
An area of outstanding scenery, interesting little towns and villages. Give yourself a whole day to travel around - Betwys-y-Coed, Beddgelert, Llandbedr, Llanberis, Blaenau Ffestiniog - the list is endless
National Trust
Erddig Hall is the nearest National Trust property and it is unique - the gardens are worth a visit and the property is famous for the displays of how the servants lived and worked
